Police Shooting Under Investigation Near Old Town Scottsdale

A suspect was taken to a hospital after police responded to reported gunfire near Miller and Camelback roads.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A police shooting near Old Town Scottsdale left a suspect hospitalized and shut down roads near Miller and Camelback early Wednesday.

Scottsdale police said officers were sent to the area of Miller and Camelback roads around 2 a.m. after reports of gunfire.

The situation soon grew into a large police operation that stretched across several locations, including a Circle K, a nearby home and the Maya Condominium complex, according to officials.

Police have confirmed the case is being investigated as an officer-involved shooting, but have not yet released details about how the encounter unfolded.

Just before 5 a.m., a suspect was placed into an ambulance and later taken into custody, according to reports. It remains unclear whether anyone else was hurt.

Miller Road and Camelback Road are closed, and drivers should avoid the area, police warned.
