Facebook Outage Affects CA, Users Nationwide
Users reported Facebook acting buggy or locking them out. Here's what's happening.
CALIFORNIA — Facebook users across California woke Friday to both a new "World Cup" themed login screen and a sudden inability to log in. According to DownDetector, the website that tracks which apps are working and which aren't, a national Facebook outage affected the app from New York to the entire West Coast. Some users reported not being able to log in, while others haven't seen an update in over 18 hours, according to Reddit threads.
As of 7 a.m., more than 113,000 people reported issues with the Meta-owned app, but an hour later, things appeared to be returning to normal, according to comments on both DownDetector and Reddit, with only

Some people reporting issues have expressed the fear that they were hacked.
"Down in Los Angeles," one DownDetector commenter said. "IG lets me type a few words in DM and kicks me out FAST. Can't share anything in stories etc. FB lets me in, but won't show anything but my basic profile, and it won't let me post. Messenger completely logged me out."
