Tiny CA Dog Who Survived In Yellowstone National Park For Over A Month Is Finally Safe
Luna the terrier mix survived her harrowing ordeal and is now safe.

A tiny dog from California is safe after spending over a month lost in Yellowstone National Park, according to reports.
Norris Ark Training & Recovery Center, which has been aiding in the search for Luna the Jack Russell Terrier mix, posted on its Facebook account Wednesday that the missing pup had been rescued.
The already-small dog lost about half her body weight during her time in the wild, weighing just over 10 pounds when she was found, according to SFGate.

Luna’s time loose in Yellowstone began last month, when she was locked in her family’s cabin while her humans were away, with a “do not disturb” sign on the door, but housekeeping mistakenly opened it and Luna ran off into the park, according to Norris Ark. Pets are not allowed to be alone in rooms, Todd Walton, marketing and sales director of Yellowstone National Park Lodges, told SFGate.
Luna, who was feral as a young dog, was spotted repeatedly during her time in the park, but with seasonal road closures and the rescue’s permit expiration date looming, it was a race against time to save her.

Fortunately, Luna made herself at home in the rescue’s trap — a doghouse with a bed inside — and her owner approached Wednesday morning to find Luna waiting there, SFGate reported.
