Singer and spoken-word artist Lisa B (Lisa Bernstein) celebrates the release or her 8th album, "'60s Magic Now!: The Y-Verse," with her stellar band and special guests. After seven critically acclaimed records and a recent poetry book/audiobook with original music, Lisa presents a collection of stunning '60s covers that are newly relevant today. Inspired by her ardent response to the repressive Trump administration, the album offers expressive new arrangements of various beloved '60s tunes. Their more innocent calls for love and peace are infused with cutting-edge flavors — straightahead jazz, soul, funk, jazz-rock, hip-hop, and Latin. And Lisa's new poetic raps reveal previously hidden rooms within many of the songs. The record spotlights four magical characters, each distinct figures of freedom: Spooky, Mr. Fantasy, Ruby Tuesday, and Windy. It includes two anthems from the time that passionately address social action: "The Times They Are A-Changin'" (Bob Dylan) and "Everybody Get Together" (the Youngbloods). Rounding out the evening are other songs from the '60s or reminiscent of the decade from Lisa's previous records:"What's New, Pussycat?," "Our House," "What Is This Thing Called Love?," "With Him and Max Roach's Solo," and various originals.
