Metrolink Increases Its Fare For First Time In 13 Years For Riverside County And Beyond

The hike was attributed to rising operating costs, lower post-pandemic ridership levels, and declining state and federal funding.

LOS ANGELES — Metrolink implemented its first fare adjustments in 13 years on Monday, raising prices for single-ride tickets and day passes while holding the line on select regional options.

The commuter rail agency announced that One-Way Tickets are seeing an approximate 14% increase, varying by distance. The Weekday SoCal Day Pass has increased from $15 to $19, while the Weekend and Holiday SoCal Day Pass rose from $10 to $12.

Prices for Monthly Passes and 5-Day Flex Passes vary by distance, resulting in slight increases, no changes, or lower prices for some riders depending on their route, as these passes are calculated using One-Way Ticket fares.

Metrolink officials said the decision was not made lightly. The regional rail provider attributed the adjustments to rising operating and maintenance costs, lower post-pandemic ridership levels, and declining state and federal funding.
