Stolen Car Suspect Falls Asleep Behind The Wheel At Turn Lane In Fremont: Police

Police did not say what could have caused the driver to fall asleep while driving.

FREMONT, CA — A stolen car suspect was arrested in Fremont last week after falling asleep while driving, police said.

Few details about the arrest were available, including when the car was stolen. Police say officers found the driver stopped at a left-hand turn lane with the car lights off on Friday, Aug. 21.

When officers approached the car, they found one person asleep behind the wheel, according to the Fremont Police Department.

Officers took the suspect into custody and determined the vehicle had been stolen, police said, adding that they found a gun inside.

The potential charges the suspect faces are unclear. The suspect, whose identity was not revealed, was booked into Santa Rita Jail, police said.
