Carlsbad Man Arrested After Deputies Seize Firearms During Gang Investigation

CARLSBAD, CA — A Carlsbad man suspected of associating with documented gang members and possessing illegal firearms was arrested this week, authorities said.

Sean Harvey, 23, was arrested Wednesday after detectives served a search warrant at his Carlsbad home as part of an investigation into the Vista Home Boys street gang, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives began investigating the gang in July and identified Harvey as a person of interest after seeing him with documented gang members and firearms, according to the sheriff's office.

During the search, detectives found two firearms and ammunition. One of the firearms had its serial number intentionally defaced and rendered unreadable, officials said.

Detectives also found gang-related writings and other items they said linked Harvey to the Vista Home Boys.

Harvey was arrested without incident and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on multiple weapons violations, according to the sheriff's office.

The investigation was conducted by the Vista/North Coastal Street Narcotics and Gang Team.
