Genealogy Class For Beginners Planned At Carlsbad Library

CARLSBAD, CA — Residents interested in tracing their family roots can learn the basics of genealogy research during a free class July 25 at the Georgina Cole Library in Carlsbad.

The class, hosted in partnership with the North San Diego County Genealogical Society, is intended for beginners and anyone looking to refresh their research skills.

Participants will learn the basics of genealogy research, including how to use the library's genealogy collection, census records, wills and probate records, land records, online resources and subscription databases.

The Georgina Cole Library houses one of Southern California's largest genealogy collections, with print, microform and digital resources available in its Genealogy Division.

The July 25 class is part of the library's ongoing genealogy programming, which includes twice-monthly "Focus On" classes, a monthly DNA interest group and genealogy program meetings covering research topics throughout the year.

The class will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Cole Library Community Room at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. Doors open at 9:15 a.m.
