Hit-And-Run Driver Sought After Pedestrian Seriously Injured In North County

ENCINITAS, CA — Authorities are asking for the public's help identifying a driver who struck a pedestrian in North County and fled the scene, leaving the man with severe injuries.

The collision happened shortly after 10:15 p.m. Aug. 16 in the 400 block of Glen Arbor Drive in Encinitas, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said a silver 2012-14 Toyota Prius V struck a 49-year-old man who was walking along the roadway. The driver did not stop and left the area.

The victim suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Deputies recovered a vehicle part believed to be a passenger-side headlight washer at the scene. Investigators said the suspect vehicle may be missing the part and could have additional front-end damage.
