Arrests Made In La Verne Construction Worker Shooting
Two men were arrested on suspicion of shooting a construction worker in the foot last month in La Verne.
LA VERNE, CA — Police have released the names of two Pomona men suspected of shooting a La Verne construction worker in the foot last month.
Jose Alfredo Padilla, 24, and Angel Valenzuela, 41, have been charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office with attempted murder, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in unlawful possession of a firearm. Padilla is currently being held on $3.1 million bail while Valenzuela is held on $2.1 million bail, according to a statement from the La Verne Police Department.
The shooting took place at a construction site in the 2300 block of Arrow Highway on July 21. Two were caught by construction workers rummaging through a car at the site, police said.

One of the men pulled out a gun and fired a shot at the workers, hitting one of them in the foot. The men then fled from the site.
Padilla and Valenzuela were eventually identified as suspects, police said. Valenzuela was arrested on July 30 for a crime unrelated to the shooting, while Padilla was arrested at a house in Pomona on Aug. 6, according to La Verne police.
