Teen Wounded By Bullets Fired Near Party In Contra Costa

CONTRA COSTA, CA — Gunfire wounded a 16-year-old as he left a house party Saturday night. Bullets also struck two nearby homes, but police reported no other injuries.

The Antioch Police Department’s dispatch center received multiple calls reporting five to six gunshots in the 5400 block of Prewett Ranch Drive at 8:56 p.m. on Saturday.

While officers headed to the area, dispatchers learned that someone had dropped off a teen with a gunshot wound at a local hospital.

Officers found the teen at the hospital. He told them he was leaving a house party when the shooting occurred. Medical staff treated him for a gunshot wound to the abdomen that was not life-threatening, police said.

Officers connected the shooting to the nearby party. Police have released no suspect information and are still investigating the circumstances.
