Are you ready to start running, go farther or faster or simply enjoy your runs and avoid injury? Your running form can make all the difference in how you feel during and after your run. Chi Running draws from movement principles of Tai Chi and emphasizes running form for energy efficiency and injury prevention. Discover how to run easily with less effort.

This class is for runners of all abilities – for beginners who want to start off “right”, seasoned runners who want to increase distance or speed, triathletes looking to improve the run portion, or if you’re just tired of being injured.

Community Education at Las Positas College presents this special opportunity for runners to learn the basics of Chi Running. The special reduced registration fee of $98 is available only through direct registration on Las Positas Community Education website

PRE REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Nov 1st 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Location: Meet at Indoor track in the PE complex

The class will be on the indoor track in the PE complex on the Las Positas College campus. Parking and meeting location details will be emailed to you.

The instructor, Hazel Wood, is a Master Chi Running Instructor based in Marin and has been teaching Chi Running for over 20 years. She will share her deep knowledge and experience to help you discover how simple, mindful focuses result in less effort and stress on your body. She will guide you through many exercises and drills designed to leave you with a clear sense of what the Chi Running technique feels like in your body. The class will be small and we will not be doing lots of running so no matter what condition you are in, have no fear. We will spend time alternating between demonstrations, fun exercises and technique drills … the nature of the class will be relaxed, fun and inspiring.

A snapshot of what you will learn:

  • How to develop, body sense and maintain good posture all day long and while running
  • How to move from your center (dantien) as in T’ai Chi
  • How to avoid common form-related running injuries
  • How to walk correctly to enhance your running
  • How to save energy and reduce dependence on leg strength
  • How to make efficient use of upper body and arms
  • How to use cadence to increase efficiency and reduce effort
  • How to use gears for efficient stride length and speed
  • How to relax and conserve energy at any speed

Bonus – Reference materials will be emailed post event.

Contact hazel@stridebystride.com for any questions regarding the workshop. For questions about registration contact Community Education at Las Positas 925-424-1467 or commed@laspositascollege.edu
