Driver Killed In Rollover Crash In Del Mar

DEL MAR, CA — A driver was killed Monday night in a rollover crash in Del Mar, authorities said.

Deputies responded at 10:24 p.m. to a report of a solo-vehicle rollover near the 1900 block of Jimmy Durante Boulevard, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Preliminary information indicated that an unidentified man driving a 2014 Mercedes SUV veered off the road and struck construction equipment, causing the vehicle to roll over. Despite lifesaving efforts, the driver died at the scene, sheriff's officials said.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation by the North Coastal Traffic Division. Officials said it was not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
