Encinitas SDCCU To Host Blood Drive As Supplies Remain Low

ENCINITAS, CA — A blood drive will be held next week at the San Diego County Credit Union location in Encinitas as local blood supplies remain low, organizers said.

San Diego Blood Bank will collect donations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at SDCCU at 501 N. El Camino Real. The drive is one of eight being held at SDCCU locations across San Diego and Riverside counties ahead of the Labor Day holiday.

"Currently, there is an extremely low inventory of blood and it's especially important to donate before the Labor Day holiday, when travel and outdoor activities increase the demand for emergency trauma care," officials said in a news release.

The San Diego County locations are:

• Encinitas: 501 N. El Camino Real
• Kearny Mesa: 5500 Overland Ave., Suite 190
• Pacific Beach: 1664 Garnet Ave.
• Rancho Bernardo: 11965 Bernardo Plaza Drive, Suite 169
• San Diego: SDCCU Operations Center, 6545 Sequence Drive
• Santee: 286 Town Center Parkway
• Vista: 1475 W. Vista Way

SDCCU has partnered with San Diego Blood Bank for more than 20 years.

"Every blood donation plays a vital role in helping local hospitals care for patients in need," SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell said in a statement.

Donors will receive one free ticket to SeaWorld San Diego's Howl-O-Scream event while supplies last, according to SDCCU.
