Encinitas Teachers Invited To Apply For $500 Grants For Classroom Projects

ENCINITAS, CA — Encinitas teachers with innovative class project ideas could get their projects funded.

North Island Credit Union Foundation is accepting applications for its fall Teacher Grant program, which will award 10 teachers $500 each for classroom projects.

The grants are available to full-time teachers in San Diego and Riverside counties, as well as active teachers who are North Island Credit Union members.

Projects should have clear learning objectives, demonstrate creativity and address a specific classroom or academic need.

"Some of the most memorable learning experiences begin with a teacher's creative idea," North Island Credit Union Foundation President Marvel Ford said in a statement. "Through our Teacher Grant program, we are proud to help educators bring those ideas to life and give students new opportunities to explore, experiment and connect with learning in meaningful ways.”

Applications are due Sept. 12. Teachers can apply online.

The foundation has awarded $235,000 in teacher grants since the program began in 2012. Previous grants have supported a variety of projects, including creating an underwater city, designing and building bridges and model houses, supporting an entrepreneur course for high school seniors, and creating a sensory garden and community learning space.
