Vehicle Hits Bicyclist in Escondido, Flees Scene
The vehicle was heading west on Washington Avenue at about 9:20 p.m. Saturday when the driver made a right turn and struck the bicyclist.
ESCONDIDO, CA — Escondido police sought the public's help Monday in finding a hit-and-run driver who seriously injured a bicyclist over the weekend.
The vehicle was heading west on Washington Avenue at about 9:20 p.m. Saturday when the driver made a right turn and struck the bicyclist, who was riding east in the north-side crosswalk, according to the Escondido Police Department.
The vehicle was described as a light-colored SUV with tinted windows, possible a Ford Expedition or Explorer.

"The driver failed to stop and was last seen continuing north on Ash Street," police said, adding that the SUV may have front-end damage.
The bicyclist, a 27-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries, the EPD added.
