60-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed In Fremont Crash: Police
This was the city's eighth traffic death this year, authorities said.
FREMONT, CA — A 60-year-old pedestrian was killed Monday morning when they were hit by a car while walking in Fremont, authorities said.
Police say the pedestrian was walking eastbound on Stevenson Boulevard near the center median around 4:15 a.m. when a driver hit him with the left front portion of the car.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and took the pedestrian to a local hospital, where they died after life-saving efforts, according to the Fremont Police Department.

The pedestrian was not immediately identified. The coroner's office is working to notify the pedestrian's family of their death, police said.
The driver, meanwhile, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

What led up to the crash remains unclear, but police said impairment does not appear to be a factor.
