Suspect Robs Woman At Gunpoint Outside Fremont Bank: Police

FREMONT, CA — Police say they arrested a person suspected of robbing a woman at gunpoint outside a bank in Fremont.

It's unclear whether the woman and suspected robber knew each other before the incident. The woman withdrew money from a bank ATM on Friday, Sept. 18, and was sitting in her car when the robber approached her, according to the Fremont Police Department.

The robber smashed the woman's car window and threatened her with a gun before stealing her purse, along with the cash she had just withdrawn, police said.

Officers, with support from the Fremont Police Department's Real-Time Information Center and neighboring law enforcement agencies, tracked down the suspect in another city, police said.

There, investigators took the suspect into custody in connection with the robbery, police said.

The woman's purse was also found inside a vehicle the suspect was driving when officers found them, authorities said.
