Body Recovered From Frigid Coast Waterway By Rescue Swimmer In North Bay

Rescuers recovered the person Thursday morning, but authorities have not yet confirmed the person's identity.

BODEGA, CA — A person recovered from the chilly waters of the Sonoma County coast Thursday morning by a rescue swimmer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 10:41 a.m. Thursday about a possible rescue at Duncan’s Landing in Bodega.

Sheriff’s deputies and Sonoma County Fire District crews responded to the scene.

A fire district rescue swimmer brought to shore the person, who was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the person’s identity and authorities are investigating what led to their death.
