Coast Guard Medevacs Cruise Ship Passenger To Fort Bragg
The Carnival Luminosa requested a medevac for a passenger with signs of a stroke.
MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA — A sick cruise ship passenger was evacuated by helicopter 45 miles off Humboldt Bay to a Fort Bragg hospital, the U.S. Coast Guard said Saturday.
The twin-engine MH-65 rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay hoisted the 51-year-old woman and transported her to Adventist Health Mendocino Coast, the Coast Guard said.
The Carnival Luminosa, with a capacity of 2,260 passengers, requested a medevac for a passenger with signs of a stroke about 5:10 p.m. Thursday, the Coast Guard said. The woman was reportedly in stable condition.
