Healdsburg Wants Your Weirdest Broken Household Stuff

HEALDSBURG, CA — Broken lamps, temperamental toasters, wobbly chairs, torn clothing, busted scooters, and other household casualties can get another shot at life when the Healdsburg Repair Fair returns.

The free event on Sept. 19. runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Abel de Luna Community Center.

"If you can carry it in, we will try to fix it," organizers said.

Volunteers and professional repair specialists will help repair lamps, small appliances, small furniture, textiles, bicycles, and other items at no charge.

There are limits. Organizers cannot repair microwaves or cell phones, although they can provide referrals to local professionals.

Repairs are not guaranteed and depend on the item, available materials, and expertise of the volunteers working that day.

Participants should stay with their belongings while repairs are underway so they can learn maintenance and repair tips for the future.

The fair will also include a clothing swap. Participants can bring clean clothing and accessories in good condition to share and take home something new to them.

The event is free. Pre-registration is encouraged so the repair team can prepare for the items participants plan to bring.
