La Cosecha Brings Fifteen Wineries Together Saturday

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Fifteen wineries will gather in Sonoma on Saturday for the only annual event where members of the Mexican American Vintners Association pours wine under one roof, bringing together family stories, vineyard traditions, and some of Wine Country's newest and most established labels.

The 14th annual La Cosecha begins with a Grand Tasting from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by an optional after-party featuring live music, dancing, and additional wine beginning at 6 p.m.

The association says La Cosecha showcases wineries founded by families whose roots in Sonoma County vineyards often stretch back generations before they became vineyard owners and winemakers themselves.

Among the participating wineries is Aldina Vineyards, where co-owners Monica Lopez and Francisco Lopez will pour four wines: the 2024 Chardonnay, 2024 Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon, 2023 Bacchus Blend, and 2022 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.

Lopez, who also serves as president of the Mexican American Vintners Association, said the organization grew from families determined to build ownership opportunities after generations spent working in Northern California vineyards.

"MAVA exists because a group of families decided that the people who have worked these vineyards for generations belonged on the ownership side of the business too," Lopez said.

She described La Cosecha — "the harvest" — as the one day each year when every member winery gathers in one location, giving wine enthusiasts an opportunity to meet winemakers, hear family stories, and taste wines that are often available only at individual tasting rooms.

For Aldina Vineyards, the event also reflects the journey of founders Al and Dina Lopez, who established their lives in Sonoma County years before launching the family wine label.

Their children now operate the winery while continuing the family's connection to the region's wine industry.

General admission tickets cost $150 and include unlimited tastings during the Grand Tasting from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Guests may also purchase a $50 after-party add-on, which includes admission beginning at 6 p.m., two glasses of wine, live entertainment, and access to the evening celebration.

The event ends at 9 p.m. Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase. The event is open only to guests age 21 and older. Free parking will be available.
