Cool Ice Cream and Warm Blankets

Winter brought ice cream and warm blankets to Sycamores El Nido campus in Altadena.

Los Altos Auxiliary is a 100% volunteer charity that enhances and enriches the lives of youths, adults, and families at Sycamores' El Nido campus community with unconditional care and comfort. They believe youngsters at a crisis point in their lives deserve the opportunity to experience a healthy and supportive environment to change the trajectory of their lives.

They believe in the power of direct hands-on acts of kindness like making no-sew quilt blankets for each youth, celebrating each youth's birthday with two dozen of their favorite flavor homemade cupcakes (with their favorite frosting too!) and a $50 gift card, providing curated Holiday gifts from each youth's personal wish list, delivering Halloween and Easter baskets of goodies, giving pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving dinner on the campus, making sure each residential cottage is "spruced up" with a tree for the Holidays, and interacting with the youth by holding old fashion ice cream socials, movie nights, summer field days and more!

Their providing computer labs, libraries, outdoor patios, academic and art programs, sporting events, field trips, therapeutic workshops and services is an important supplement to the mental health care and living skills assistance provided by El Nido's outstanding professional staff. Los Altos Auxiliary actions improve a child's mental, physical, and social health so that youth can become a healthy member of our community.
