Aliso Beach Finally Gets Sand In Laguna Beach After Severe Erosion: Report

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach locals may get to say "hello" to Aliso Beach in just a few short weeks.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, city crews started work to make Aliso Beach and its damaged parking lot usable again, after the city acquired an emergency permit from the California Coastal Commission.

The most impacted portion of the beach includes a 25-yard stretch that runs from south of the lifeguard stand to near the cafe, The Orange County Register reported.

According to the newspaper, city crews will sweep the sand off the parking lot and create a six-inch base of sand to cover the now-exposed area.

"A lot of the electrical and plumbing is running under this section, and it's compromised," Laguna Beach Director of Community Development Matt Schneider told The Orange County Register. "We had to turn it all off because that was one of the first public safety concerns."

According to the OC Register, city crews will tear down the remaining pavement in the off-limits area and bring in material to fill in open spots before leveling out the entire area with gathered sand.
