Stacked Chicago-based Ice Cream Shop 'Rainbow Cone' Hosts Grand Opening In Laguna Beach

The Original Rainbow Cone opens in Laguna Beach Monday morning, and the first 100 people in line will receive a special treat.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A longstanding ice cream store in Chicago can now call Laguna Beach home, after Rainbow Cone opened their location on Pacific Coast Highway Monday morning.

The ice cream shop, known for its signature five-flavor stacked cone and nearly century-long history, was founded in 1926 by "Grandpa Joe" Sapp in Chicago.

Since then, the store has been offering stacked cones in multiple flavor combinations, as well as ice cream cakes and ice cream treats featuring Chicago's iconic mini donuts.

Rainbow Cone Laguna Beach is located at 244 South Coast Highway and opens to the public on Monday, May 11 at noon.

To celebrate the brand's 100th birthday, the first 100 customers in line will receive a free rainbow cone.
