Construction Finally Begins On New Walmart Supercenter In Wildomar
The new 185,682-square-foot store is being built at the northeast corner of Monte Vista Drive and Bundy Canyon Road, just east of I-15.

WILDOMAR, CA – Construction has officially begun on a new Walmart Supercenter at the northeast corner of Monte Vista Drive and Bundy Canyon Road in Wildomar.
Once built, the new 185,682-square-foot store located just east of Interstate 15 is expected to expand local residents’ access to groceries, pharmaceuticals, household goods, and everyday products.
A completion date was not available, but more than a year ago, officials broke ground on a Walmart Supercenter in Eastvale. The 170,995-square-foot store at 14100 Limonite Avenue opened in January, adding to the more than one dozen Walmart locations across Riverside County, including in Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, and Temecula.

The Wildomar project has been years in the making. Although originally approved in 2015, the development stalled and was at risk of losing its entitlements. Over the past year, the city said it worked with the property owner and developer to streamline processes and remove obstacles.
Construction of the Walmart Supercenter represents one of the largest commercial investments in Wildomar’s history. It will contribute to the community’s economic growth and create "hundreds of construction and permanent jobs," according to the city.

When Wildomar officially became a city on July 1, 2008, it was home to about 28,000 residents. Prior, the community featured several rural properties, one major grocery store, a few small strip malls, a McDonald's, and a couple of gas stations.
According to the latest figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, the small city's population has increased by about 36% since cityhood. Dozens of businesses have opened, including retail, commercial, and medical.
Wildomar Mayor Carlos Marquez said the Walmart project "has truly been a long time coming."
"For more than a decade, the City remained committed to seeing this site developed in a way that benefits our community," he said. "Breaking ground on this Walmart Supercenter reflects persistence, thoughtful planning, and our continued focus on strengthening Wildomar’s local economy."
Marquez continued, "This isn’t just about a new store. It is about creating jobs, expanding retail options for our residents, and building a stronger, more sustainable tax base that allows us to invest in the services our community relies upon."
City Manager Chris Mann noted the project’s location.
"The Monte Vista Drive and Bundy Canyon Road corridor is a key gateway into Wildomar," he said. "This investment complements ongoing transportation improvements in the area and positions the City for continued commercial growth."
