LA MESA, CA — A pedestrian was fatally hit by a pickup truck Tuesday morning on Interstate 8 in La Mesa, authorities said.
The crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. near Spring Street, according to the California Highway Patrol's incident log. The reporting party witnessed the pedestrian, described as a man and possibly a transient, run onto the freeway prior to getting struck by the truck. The pedestrian died at the scene.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the area. The right lane was blocked on eastbound I-8, west of Spring Street, according to Caltrans. All lanes were reopened by 10:30 a.m.
