America 250 Exhibit Opens at Lafayette Library Through August 18
Visitors to the Lafayette Library and Learning Center are invited to explore E Pluribus Unum: Many Stories, One Nation.
Visitors to the Lafayette Library and Learning Center are invited to explore E Pluribus Unum: Many Stories, One Nation, a free educational exhibit commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Created by the Acalanes Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as part of the nationwide America 250 celebration, the exhibit highlights the many people whose contributions shaped our nation's founding.
Through engaging displays, visitors will discover stories that often receive little attention in traditional history books, including women Patriots, Patriots of Color, Native American allies, French and Spanish allies, and the diverse individuals who helped secure American independence. The exhibit also explores how news of the Declaration of Independence spread throughout the colonies in 1776 and invites visitors to consider who is represented—and who is missing—from familiar images of America's founding.

Free printed copies of the Declaration of Independence are available for visitors to take home while supplies last.
The exhibit is located in the main area of the Lafayette Library and Learning Center and may be viewed during regular library hours. Admission is free.

Location: Lafayette Library and Learning Center, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette
The exhibit is part of the Acalanes Chapter DAR's ongoing America 250 outreach, which includes community displays, educational programs, and public events throughout Lamorinda celebrating the nation's semiquincentennial.
Visitors are also invited to attend a special author presentation on Thursday, August 6, at 6:30 p.m., when historian Dr. Emily Sneff will discuss her award-winning book, When the Declaration of Independence Was News, at the Lafayette Library. The free program explores how Americans first learned that independence had been declared in 1776. Reservations are requested.
