Hog Island Brings Oysters To First East Bay Location

BAY AREA, CA — One of the Bay Area's best known oyster companies is expanding for the first time across the Bay Bridge for a debut East Bay location.

Hog Island Oyster Co. will be bringing raw and grilled oysters, clam chowder, and seafood sandwiches to Lafayette.

The company plans to open the restaurant in early 2027 at 3596 Mount Diablo Blvd., replacing Barranco Cocina Peruana, according to reports.

BCV Architecture will design the 2,200-square-foot restaurant, which will offer indoor and outdoor seating for approximately 130 guests, according to reports.

Hog Island will serve lunch and dinner, operate a full bar, and feature raw and grilled oysters, clam chowder, shrimp and oyster po’ boys, and specials created for the Lafayette location.

The company began as an oyster farm in Tomales Bay in 1983. It now operates oyster bars in Marshall, Napa, Larkspur, and San Francisco, along with Tony’s Seafood Restaurant in Marshall and a pickup window in Petaluma.

Hog Island also operates oyster farms in Humboldt Bay and Tomales Bay. The company harvests and sells more than 5 million oysters and Manila clams each year, according to its website.
