Lafayette Extends Council Candidate Filing Deadline Again

LAMORINDA, CA — Lafayette has extended its City Council candidate nomination period until 4 p.m. Wednesday after incumbent Councilmember Susan Candell did not file nomination papers by the original Aug. 7 deadline.

The extension gives prospective candidates additional time to enter the Nov. 3 election for three council seats: two carrying full four-year terms, and one carrying a partial two-year term.

City officials announced the extension Monday following the close of the regular nomination period.

Candidates seeking a council seat during the extended filing period must make an appointment with City Clerk Joanne Robbins for nomination papers. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Candidates must submit all signed, original documents to Robbins no later than 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The City Clerk’s office is at 3675 Mt. Diablo Blvd., second floor, in Lafayette.

The Lafayette election will be consolidated with California’s statewide Nov. 3 election.
