Three Council Seats Open To Challengers In Lafayette

Nomination period begins as three Lafayette City Council seats head toward the November municipal election ballot.

LAMORINDA, CA — Three Lafayette City Council seats are up for election this fall.

Incumbents Susan Candell, Jim Cervantes, and Stella Wotherspoon currently hold the seats, and none has announced plans to step down as the nomination period opens.

Candidates have until Aug. 7 to file nomination papers, with the deadline extended to Aug. 12 if an eligible incumbent does not file.

The election will be combined with the Nov. 3 statewide and will include:

  • Two city council seats for a 4-year term.
  • One city council seat for a 2-year term.

The nomination period opened Monday and will close at 5 p.m. on Aug. 7.
