Beloved Livermore Restaurant To Close After 22 Years
Zephyr Grill & Bar will serve its final customers at the end of this month, almost a year after reopening following a fire.

LIVERMORE, CA — Zephyr Bar & Grill will close Oct. 31 after more than 22 years, the restaurant announced Wednesday morning.
The popular steakhouse first opened on First Street in June 2004. In July 2025, a small fire broke out in the prep area. Although no one was injured, Zephyr closed for several months for extensive renovations. It reopened in November 2025 with an updated menu and hours. In March, owners Lynn and Randy Tei put the restaurant on the market for $399,000, according to the Livermore Vine. The sale price included the restaurant’s business assets, but not the Zephyr name.
“As many of you may know, over the past few months we have been exploring the sale of Zephyr Livermore,” Lynn and Randy said in an announcement. “Our hope was to find a new owner who could carry the restaurant forward and allow it to remain part of the Livermore community. Unfortunately, that path did not come together, and after much consideration, we have made the difficult decision that it is time to close this chapter.”

Lynn and Randy said the past year has been “especially challenging.”
“After the fire in July 2025 forced us to close for several months, we rebuilt and reopened with tremendous hope for Zephyr’s future. We gave it everything we had, which makes this decision that much more difficult,” they said.

The restaurant was known for its steak, burgers, pasta, seafood, and martinis. It also served as a popular community gathering spot.
“As sad as we are to say goodbye, more than anything, we are grateful,” Lynn and Randy said. “Grateful for every dinner reservation. Every birthday celebration. Every anniversary toast. Every holiday spent with us ... every familiar face who walked through the door and made Zephyr feel like home.”
Zephyr will operate Wednesday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
“For more than two decades, Zephyr has been a place where birthdays were celebrated, anniversaries toasted, families gathered, friendships grew, and countless special occasions were made even more memorable. It became much more than a restaurant—it became part of the fabric of Livermore Downtown,” Livermore Downtown Inc. said in a post.
“We are grateful for the dedication, heart, and hospitality that Lynn and Randy have brought to our downtown for 22 years. Their commitment to creating a welcoming place for the community has left a lasting mark.”
