Livermore Airport Flights Temporarily Suspended After Hazardous Material Found
Inbound flights were temporarily suspended Thursday after hazardous materials were found beneath the airport's flight path, LPFD said.

LIVERMORE, CA — Inbound flights to Livermore Municipal Airport were temporarily suspended Thursday afternoon after authorities responded to a hazardous chemical in the airport's flight path, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department reported.
At around 2:08 p.m., LPFD crews responded to a hazardous conditions call on Stealth Street, the department said. Personnel located several small bottles containing a crystallized chemical that posed a potential hazard.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad conducted a controlled destruction of the materials, while the Livermore Police Department provided traffic control and a secured perimeter.

The airport and nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution, LPFD said. Due to the location beneath the airport flight path, inbound flights were temporarily suspended.
All materials were destroyed without injury, and airport operations resumed. Small explosions were heard during the controlled operation. Units cleared the scene at approximately 6 p.m.
