Livermore Hosting 150th Birthday Celebration At Livermorium Plaza
The Friday party will feature live music, refreshments, local artists and displays, and a reveal of the citywide poetry contest winner.
LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore is hosting a 150th birthday party for itself Friday at Livermorium Plaza. The celebration will feature live music, refreshments, local artists from the Livermore Arts Association, displays from the Livermore Heritage Guild, and the winning poem from the city’s 150th Anniversary Haiku Contest.
The free celebration takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Friday's party is one of several events celebrating the city’s sesquicentennial. There has already been a centennial birthday for the world’s oldest operating lightbulb, and exhibits at the Livermore Civic Center Library and the Duarte Museum and Lincoln Highway Museum. Still to come is an open ranch this Sunday at the Hagemann Ranch Open House, and a screening and Q&A of “Livermore: The Movie” at the Vine Cinema & Alehouse. For the whole month, the Livermore Arts Association is exhibiting “150 Years of Livermore” at the Livermore Civic Center Library, which presents art that shows the city’s history and evolution.
