Man Poops on Pier, Jumps Off, Swims to Shore and Gets Arrested

Also this week, a restaurant patron turned everything upside down, an allegedly drunk driver literally drove into a DUI Checkpoint, and an allegedly drunk pedestrian fell into the checkpoint - again, literally.

This week a call came into the Seal Beach Police Department that a 30 year-old man was seen defecating on the Seal Beach Pier. The event occurred Aug. 16 at 1:03 a.m., and according to Sergeant Steve Bowles of the Seal Beach police department, the man was drunk and proceeded to jump off the pier and swam to shore. The man was ultimately arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

  •  8/16/11—9:29 a.m.—Ocean Avenue—A man in his 40s with a black leather jacket was in a restaurant and began turning everything upside down on the tables and making the patrons uncomfortable. The manager said that he eventually left the restaurant without paying his bill and that he appeared to be mentally ill.
  •  8/17/11—3:47 p.m.—Alderwood Lane—Fraud. Caller said that an unknown person used his credit card to make a charge of $42,559.13.
  •  8/17/11—5:40 p.m.—First Street and Marina—Warrant issued. Garrett Shamburg was arrested for on an warrant for his arrest.
  •  8/17/11—6:30 p.m.—Fathom Avenue—Robbery. Caller said a blue beach bike cruiser worth $300 was stolen from inside the garage during the past week.
  •  8/18/11—7:52 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—Caller says a male juvenile asked his son to see his bike and then took off with it. The bike has white rims and black grips, and the suspect is reported as having a bleached blonde ponytail with large holes in his ears from earrings. According to Sgt. Bowles, a juvenile that was seen riding the stolen bicycle was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property.
  •  8/19/11—11:40 a.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—Petty theft. Caller said between $800 and $900 worth of liquor has been stolen over the past week.
  •  8/19/11—3:08 p.m.—Old Ranch and Seal Beach Boulevard—Public Intoxication. A man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.
  •  8/19/11—3:47 p.m.—Monterey Road—Petty theft. Caller said recyclables were stolen from the trash can.
  •  8/19/11—6:57 p.m.—First Street and PCH—Drunk. After falling down at an intersection, a man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.
  • 8/19/11—8:06 p.m.—First and PCH—DUI. A man in his 40s driving a black Corvette was seen swerving his car back and forth as he approached a DUI checkpoint. He ran over cones and yelled out of the window. Officers at the checkpoint handled the situation.
  • 8/20/11—1:16 a.m.—111 Main St.—Fight at Clancy’s. Two men who started a verbal fight within Clancy’s were arrested on suspicion of for public intoxication. The men were Kieran Halliburton and Corey Edward Montano.
  • 8/21/11—12:19 a.m.—2nd Street and Appian—DUI.  A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
  •  8/21/11—11:44 p.m.—215 10th Street—Drunk. A man was spotted in an alley having a difficult time getting into his truck and stumbling. After police located him he was arrest on suspicion of public intoxication.
