Murrieta Fire & Rescue Offering Residents Free Sandbags To Prepare For Rain

The free sandbags are only available to Murrieta residents, fire officials said.

MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta fire officials are encouraging residents to be "rain ready," and offering free sandbags to residents ahead of a storm system coming to Southern California that's expected bring rain to Riverside County this weekend.

The free sandbags are only available to Murrieta residents and can be picked up at Murrieta Fire Station No. 2 at 40060 California Oaks Road, according to Murrieta Fire & Rescue.

Residents can receive up to 10 bags per household and must be prepared to fill their own sandbags.

The fire department also advised residents to check gutters and drains, secure outdoor items, and identify areas around their property that may accumulate water.

"A little preparation now can make a big difference when the rain begins," Murrieta Fire & Rescue said.
