The shooting became part of a larger investigation that began earlier that day in Lake County. Authorities later discovered a woman dead at a home in the Kelseyville Riviera.
Investigators suspect the same man was involved in the attack on Stasko, according to press reports.
Napa County Sheriff's office responded at approximately 10:45 a.m. after a motorist called 911 from the 1000 block of Dunaweal Lane near Calistoga to report a shooting, according to reports.
Detectives used license plate reader technology to identify the suspect vehicle, which was later spotted traveling south on Highway 29 near Zinfandel Lane, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Stasko's sister said the recovery will keep Meagan Stasko away from work while she focuses on healing and caring for her daughter.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack and the broader chain of events connected to the suspect.
