Alum's ‘Barrio Hollywood’ Opens Season In Spanish At Napa Valley College

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A Napa theater company will make local history this month when an alum stages a Spanish-language play about a family pushed to its breaking point.

Napa Valley College alumnus Andrés Agustín Barrera will direct “Barrio Hollywood,” Elaine Romero’s Spanish-language play about family, unity, and resilience.

And he's offering pay-what-you-can admission, including $25, $10, $1, or $0 tickets.

Barrera co-founded Alebrijes del Valle, Napa’s first Latino and Hispanic theater company. He received an NVC Foundation housing award before continuing his education at UCLA.

The production will open the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center’s 2026-27 season, with performances scheduled Sept. 11-20.

Audiences can reserve seats online or get tickets at the door before showtime.

The fall schedule also includes “The Dead Show,” Symphony Tierra, the NVC Chorale, “Elf the Musical,” and “A Christmas Carol.”

Spring performances include “Pride & Prejudice,” “She Loves Me,” the Brahms “Requiem,” student recitals, and showcases.
