Driver And Passenger Die After SUV Goes Off I-80

Two Solano County residents died Sunday afternoon after being involved in a solo-vehicle traffic collision on Interstate Highway 80.

The crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m., when the vehicle went off the interstate in the eastbound direction at the state Highway 113 interchange, in the northeast area of Solano County, the California Highway Patrol said in a statement.

The 2011 black Infinity FX35 SUV crashed into an embankment on the right shoulder after veering off the roadway.

The 56-year-old driver was identified as a woman from Dixon. She was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

The only passenger, a 65-year-old Vacaville man, was taken by ambulance to a hospital. He died from his injuries while on the way, according to the CHP.

The CHP said that a witness reported seeing the driver asleep at the wheel before the crash.
