2011: A Space Odyssey

Experience the grandeur of outer space with breathtaking images set to orchestral music. Featuring music from Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey,” including Richard Strauss’s epic “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” with organist Christoph Bull, and Johann Strauss, Jr.’s “On the Beautiful Blue Danube,” the concert is led by guest conductor Giancarlo Guerrero and includes a new multimedia work by astronomer José Francisco Salgado. The performance also features acclaimed pianist Jeremy Denk performing Mozart’s joyous Piano Concerto No. 21. Symphony trumpeter Barry Perkins solos for Hovhaness’ moving “Prayer of St. Gregory,” plus Bull returns to perform an organ postlude.
