Metro G Line Project Hits New Construction Milestones In SFV
Metro says the San Fernando Valley busway project remains on track for completion in late 2027, with major bridge and station work underway.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Construction on Metro's G Line Improvements Project is moving forward, with one of three new bridges more than three-quarters complete, according to the agency.
As of August, the Van Nuys Boulevard bridge was about 77% complete, while the Vesper Avenue bridge was 59% complete and the Sepulveda Boulevard bridge was 10% complete.
Work has also started on a new elevated Van Nuys Station, which will include a bike hub, public art and accessibility improvements.

The project calls for grade-separated bridges at Van Nuys, Vesper and Sepulveda, along with railroad-style gated intersections, improved traffic signal priority and bike path upgrades. Construction began in February 2025 and is expected to continue through late 2027.
Once completed, Metro expects the improvements to cut G Line travel times by about 12 minutes, or nearly 22%, while allowing buses to arrive as often as every five minutes and preventing motorists from entering the busway.

The 18-mile bus rapid transit line runs between North Hollywood and Chatsworth and has operated since 2005.
