OC Libraries Urges Residents To Sign Up, Take Advantage Of Free Resources During September
Residents were encouraged to sign up for library cards and take advantage of free resources and services during Library Card Sign-Up Month.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — OC Public Libraries was encouraging residents Tuesday to sign up for library cards and take advantage of free resources and services during Library Card Sign-Up Month in September.
The annual observance is intended to highlight the resources available through local libraries and encourage people of all ages to obtain library cards.
"September is a time to celebrate the power of free access, exploration, and connection for everyone in our community," according to a statement from OC Public Libraries. "A library card is more than a back-to- school essential: it's a tool that empowers individuals of all ages to learn, create, and thrive."

A library card provides access to books, ebooks, audiobooks and digital learning platforms, as well as free programs for children, teens, adults and seniors, officials said.
OC Public Libraries also offers early-literacy resources, bilingual collections, storytimes, homework help and tutoring services, author visits, cultural programs and other educational opportunities.

Residents can also borrow items including sewing machines, telescopes, globes, gardening tools and seeds, in addition to accessing Wi-Fi and other technology resources.
OC Public Libraries operates 29 branches and a satellite location at the Orangewood Children and Family Center, with more than 1.7 million materials available to users.
Residents can obtain a library card at any OC Public Libraries branch or sign up online at libraries.oc.gov/cards.
