Camera Trail Leads Investigation From Burglary Scene To SMC Casino: Police

COLMA, CA — Security camera footage from several locations helped Colma police identify a man suspected of stealing belongings from an unlocked car, police announced Friday.

Officers were called to a home on the 600 block of F Street around 6:30 a.m. on July 1 following a report of a vehicle burglary.

The vehicle's owner provided Ring camera footage showing a man opening the trunk around 12:30 a.m. and taking personal belongings, police said. The footage showed the man, later identified the man as Edgar Limos, 60, of San Francisco, approaching from the direction of Hillside Boulevard.

Investigators then reviewed cameras at the Colma Community Center and determined Limos had been walking north on Hillside Boulevard from the direction of Serramonte Boulevard, police said.

The footage also provided two details that helped officers continue tracking him: a distinctive sweatshirt with a large logo and a coffee cup he was carrying.

Police contacted Lucky Chances casino to determine whether the man had visited the casino before the theft. Casino security reviewed its surveillance footage and found a person matching Limos' description, which police said ultimately helped investigators determine his identity.

A request for an arrest warrant has been sent to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office, police said.
