Road Rage Suspect Points Gun At Driver In SMC: Police

Deputies said they later found suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, a firearm and illegal fireworks.

MONTARA, CA — A 56-year-old Oakland man was arrested Sunday after pointing a gun at another driver during a road rage incident in Montara, according to the the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Around 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Highway 1 and Second Avenue after receiving reports of a road rage incident.

Witnesses told deputies the suspect pointed a firearm at another driver, sped through the area and drove erratically before leaving, police said.

Police tracked the suspected car and located Leonard Jenkins, 56, of Oakland, on the 100 block of Beach Way in Moss Beach and took him into custody, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies said Jenkins is prohibited from possessing firearms.

During the investigation, deputies found baggies containing suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, along with a semi-automatic firearm, ammunition, illegal fireworks and a false registration tab, according to the sheriff's office.

Jenkins was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of assault with a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance for sale, police said.
