Students Return To St. Matthew's Parish School Nearly 20 Months After Palisades Fire
Students are back on campus after the Palisades Fire destroyed more than a third of the school's buildings, according to a report.
PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — St. Matthew's Parish School has welcomed students back to its Pacific Palisades campus nearly 20 months after the Palisades Fire displaced the school.
The school confirmed its return to its Bienveneda Avenue campus last week.

More than 200 students returned. The fire destroyed more than a third of the buildings on campus, prompting extensive cleanup and rebuilding before students could come back, according to ABC 7.
Los Angeles City Councilwoman Traci Park, whose district includes Pacific Palisades, joined students, parents and staff for the return.

"There was a lot of joy in the Palisades this week," Park said. "After being displaced by the fire, St. Matthew's Parish School is finally home."
Park noted that the school first opened in the Palisades in 1950.
"Happy birthday and welcome home, St. Matthew's!" she said.
