PALO ALTO, CA — The summer reading program at the Palo Alto City Library began Tuesday, offering an opportunity for participants to read for a cause.
The library will donate $1 to the Palo Alto Community Fund for every participant who completes the program, with the money supporting grants to nonprofits that improve the quality of life for residents of Palo Alto, East Palo Alto and Menlo Park.
Children 12 and under have the option of reading for a prize or a cause. The Palo Alto Community Fund distributed grants to over 70 local nonprofits last year.
