Shelina Moreda to hold Town Hall gathering to hear directly from citizens

Meet Shelina Moreda at Community Town Hall in Penngrove/Petaluma.

Local residents will have an opportunity to meet local leader and Sonoma County Supervisor candidate Shelina Moreda during a community Town Hall Gathering on Sunday, May 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Willowbrook Mill, located at 40 Ely Road in Penngrove/Petaluma.

The event is designed to give community members a chance to hear directly from Moreda, ask questions, share concerns, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of Sonoma County.

Moreda, a 5th generation dairy farmer, has built a reputation as someone deeply connected to the people, land, and traditions of Sonoma County. Her campaign for Sonoma County’s 2nd District Supervisor seat is centered around protecting local agriculture, supporting small businesses, strengthening fire resilience, preserving local heritage, and bringing communities together during a time when many residents feel increasingly divided.

“Sonoma County is worth fighting for,” Moreda says. “This community raised me, and I want to make sure future generations can continue to live, work, farm, and thrive here.”

Over the years, Moreda has become known for her hands-on community involvement and advocacy work. She helped build NorCal Livestock Evacuation efforts that saved thousands of animals during wildfire emergencies, supported campaigns to preserve historic downtown Petaluma, advocated for local farms and agricultural families, and worked to strengthen opportunities for youth through female dirtbike camps and mentorship programs.

Her campaign message focuses on practical local issues that directly impact Sonoma County families, including:

• Supporting small businesses and the local economy
• Protecting local food systems and agriculture
• Improving wildfire preparedness and fire resilience
• Reducing the county’s carbon footprint responsibly
• Advocating for farmworkers and rural communities

Organizers say the Town Hall Gathering is intended to be open, welcoming, and conversational rather than a formal political event. Residents from throughout the area are encouraged to attend, meet Moreda personally, and ask questions about the issues that matter most to them.

The evening will also highlight the importance of local leadership rooted in real community experience. As someone who has spent her life working in agriculture and advocating for Sonoma County families, Moreda says she understands both the challenges and opportunities facing the region.

“This campaign is about community,” Moreda says. “It’s about listening, solving problems, and making sure Sonoma County remains a place where families, farms, and local businesses can succeed.”
