Nonprofit Inspired By Legacy Of Upstanding South OC Boy Saves 400 Kids In 4 Years

COTO DE CAZA, CA — A nonprofit inspired by the life and legacy of an upstanding south Orange County boy is preparing for one of its biggest events of the year.

The Bradley Rofer Foundation announced details for its 5th annual Bradley Rofer Memorial Baseball Tournament this November.

According to Josette Rofer, the event features 32 teams — 420 kids — playing in a two-day tournament geared toward raising money, giving back and celebrating sportsmanship.

"This year is going to be extra special, because an amazing kid who is battling for his life will be there as our recipient," Josette told Patch. "We will be presenting him and his family with $5,019 to help them along their journey."

The community event is held every year by the foundation since its conception in 2022, celebrating the life and legacy of the "beautiful, shiny, amazing" boy who died unexpectedly that same year.

Bradley was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike across an intersection just a short distance from his Coto de Caza home in September 2022.

Bradley passed away just days shy of his 9th birthday. Just last weekend, Josette celebrated what would have been his 13th.

"Seeing what has grown from his life and how many children have been helped in his name fills my heart in a way I can't even explain," Josette said.

Since the foundation's creation, Josette said they've managed to help about 400 kids battling diseases.

The effort to give back on behalf of Bradley was not a whim, but a continuation of Bradley's work.

At just six-years-old, Bradley Rofer founded a successful flower business, Bradley's Beautiful Bouquets. But the business was anything but for-profit.

With the money he earned, Bradley was able to raise more than $3,000 for sick children in the community.

That is the legacy Josette and her husband, Aron, work to strengthen through the nonprofit.

Early September, the foundation was one of five charities benefiting from the W.L. Butler Golf Tournament — something Josette says she's "incredibly grateful" for.
