6 Teens Arrested After Brawl At Redlands High School Leaves Staff Injured

REDLANDS, CA — Six teen students were arrested following a fight at Citrus Valley High School Tuesday morning that left several students pepper-sprayed and campus staff members injured, police announced on Wednesday.

Officers from the Redlands Police Department responded to a disturbance at the school that began in the early morning. Campus safety officers were aware of a developing dispute and tried to diffuse the situation as two groups of students confronted one another, according to the Redlands Police Departments.

A fight broke out after one of the teens used pepper spray on other students while campus safety officers and a Redlands police school resource officer were trying to detain the students, police said.

During the altercation, campus safety officers also used pepper spray on two students before police and campus staff were able to get the situation under control.

Paramedics from the Redlands Fire Department responded to the scene. Everyone who was injured during the altercation was treated at the scene and released.

Redlands police conducted an investigation and identified six suspects, including three 14-year-old girls and a 17-year-old girl who were each arrested on misdemeanor charges, police said.

One of the 14-year-old girls was also charged with a felony for deploying pepper spray. Two 16-year-old boys were also cited for undisclosed infractions.

School officials are following up on the brawl with an investigation and "administrative discipline," police said.

Police officials did not say what started the dispute between the two groups of students.
