SANTA ROSA, CA — A 47-year-old man suspected of being under the influence of drugs allegedly climbed on top of a Sonoma County bus Sunday night and refused to come down until the next morning, Santa Rosa police said.

Officers were called about 9:21 p.m. to the intersection of Mendocino and McConnell avenues, where Pittsburg resident Byron Poindexter had clambered atop the bus, Santa Rosa police said Monday.

After police cleared the bus of its passengers, they tried to convince Poindexter to come down but he refused. Officers didn't try to physically remove him for fear he or others might be harmed.
